The Faculty of Management Science 5th Prof. Adebayo Akinrele Memorial Lecture Series took place at the main Lecture Hall of the Faculty of Management Science with the theme: Collective inclusion for Nation Building. The occasion which witnessed a large turnout of top functionaries including the Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, senior members of the Edo State Government, Edo State Legislators amongst others.
The University of Benin 194th Inaugural Lecture was held at the Akin Deko auditorium. The event which was attended by a large section of the University community, kicked off with the Registrar Mrs O.G Oshodin introducing the Vice chancellors’ entourage. The Vice chancellors entourage was led by the Vice Chancellor himself Prof. F.F.O Orumwense FNSE, accompanied by other management staff of the University including; the Deputy Vice Chancellors, the Bursar, Provost College of medical sciences, Dean of Medicine, Dean of Students, Directors and senior Professors.

The University of Benin MLS CPD 2017 held on the 11th of July at the university’s banquet hall with the theme: Molecular Diagnostics in chemical laboratories and translational research: The Road map. The event which drew an audience of eminent research personnel saw in attendance the Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof F.F.O Orumwense, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (academic) Prof P.E. Iribhogbe, Provost, Deans and professors from the school of Basic Medical Sciences and Medical Laboratories Sciences.
The 193 inaugural lecture of the University of Benin took place on the 6th of July 2017 at the Akin Deko auditorium-venue of the event. Attracting a packed audience, the event began with the customary recitation of both the national and Uniben anthems. The event was attended by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin Prof.
The 2017 seminar: Gendered Participation for Sustainable Development attracted dignitaries from government, civil society and the academia, with the wife of the Edo state governor Mrs Betsi Obaseki ably represented by the deputy speaker of the Edo state house of assembly Rt Hon Elizabeth Ativie. The Vice Chancellor was represented by the DVC Academics, Prof Pius Iribhogbe, the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mrs. O.A. Oshodin, and other principal officers were also in attendance.
Prof. Ozoemene Ndubuisi Obuekwe, Professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery delivered the 192nd inaugural lecture series of the University Of Benin at the Akin Deko Auditorium Ugbowo Campus on the 22nd June , 2017 with a topic: navigating the maxillofacial wilderness.

The national postgraduate medical college Examination Benin city centre made a courtesy call to the vice chancellor. In attendance were the DVC (admin)-who represented the vice chancellor, DVC (Academic), the registrar, the librarian, dean of postgraduate studies, director of ICT. The representatives of the agency spoke about the reasons for their visit. They informed the vice chancellor of their desire to take advantage of the university’s IT infrastructure in conducting CBT examination.
